in MRSA in English Hospitals

ic Southlondon
HEALTH chiefs have closed a hospital ward after an outbreak of the killer bug MRSA. Bosses at Lewisham Hospital closed ward B1 after 10 patients were discovered to have the potentially fatal superbug.
Experts believe the outbreak could be linked to a build-up of dust on the ward, as windows had to be closed because of building work on the hospital’s ?70million extension. A hospital spokesman said some of the infected patients “had MRSA when they were admitted to the hospital”. He added: “One patient had a blood infection but is now said to be responding satisfactorily to treatment. “Our infection control team decided to stop further admissions so that they could assess the situation.”
