A hospital has been given an official warning over hygiene standards just days after official figures showed that one in four health Trusts in England failed national standards.
The Government’s health watchdog found problems with how mattresses were cleaned and medical equipment decontaminated at Ashford Hospital, in Surrey.
The Healthcare Commission has now given the Trust which runs the hospital one month to resolve the problems, which it said had the potential to spread infection.
