in MRSA in Schools

District guards against MRSA | YourNorwin.com.

No other cases of MRSA have been reported at Norwin High School, Superintendent Jack Boylan said, since a student was discovered to have contracted the bacterium last week.

“We are hoping that with alerting the parents early and preventing the spread of MRSA that there will be no more outbreaks,” Boylan said.

Norwin High School Principal Ed Federinko said by informing students on how to protect themselves from MRSA in a letter last week, helped minimize fears.

“No one knows when or where it was contracted,” Federinko said.

According to Federinko, the student was not an athlete and had limited contact with other students, which could have helped stop MRSA from spreading.
