A former county council leader is in hospital with the MRSA bug.
John Kinchella was climbing a stepladder into the loft of his home in Hillsborough Close, Houghton Regis when he fell and smashed his leg.
Since then the ex-Bedfordshire County Councillor, who lost his seat earlier this month, has been recovering at Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he has had screws inserted into his leg.
But during his stay at the L&D, Mr Kinchella caught the MRSA bug and has been moved to a separate ward.
