A hospital named and shamed for poor hygiene in a television documentary is still failing to take cleanliness seriously, according to its own staff.
Almost half of NHS workers at the trust responsible for Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham say managers are not doing enough to promote the importance of hand-washing.
Last night hospital managers said every member of staff was informed about the importance of hygiene and they were "shocked" by the finding.

Hi
I have been a regular patient on Ward 5, an ENT surgical ward. I can honestly say after many stays in hospitals including private hospitals that the cleaning done on this ward is done with pride and to perfection. With a complete and utter need to do a job that is both satisfying for both the Domestic (that word doesn’t even cover what she does) and healthy and hygienic for the hospital, I will not use her name, but she has a heart of gold, all the patients love her she puts a smile on all of their faces from early in the morning till she leaves in the afternoon.
She is a credit to her job and the ward is a credit to her.
