Link: GoErie.com: Here’s what you need to know about MRSA (AUDIO).

You just found out a co-worker or one of your employees has a Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection.

What do you do?

Do you inform everyone in the office? Do you scrub and disinfect the person’s workstation and all common areas of the office?

Do you forbid the infected employee from coming to work until the infection has healed?

No, no and no, said Howard Nadworny, M.D., Saint Vincent Health Center’s chief of infection control.

"If someone has a (MRSA skin) infection, we have them treat it, we have them cover it, and we tell them it’s really important to wash their hands well," Nadworny said. "That is all that needs to be done. Doing more isn’t going to change anything."
