A case of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus has been reported and confirmed at Babeck Elementary School in Edgewood City Schools, according to the district’s Web site.
MRSA is a hard-to-treat type of staph infection that has developed resistance to traditional antibiotics. The Babeck student was treated with antibiotics and cleared to return to school by a physician, according to edgewoodschools.com.
