She said the Department of Health (DoH) had allocated £3 million for research into infection control and that some of this could be spent on testing products to fight MRSA. A DoH spokesperson said it was aware there were new inventions that could play a part in controlling infection, and it was keen to hear about any new ways of tackling the problem. ‘However, it is a matter for individual trusts to decide whether it is appropriate for them to trial a specific invention,’ she said.
