Bug busting videos to help hospital staff and patients tackle the menace of deadly MRSA are being introduced for the first time in Birmingham.

Youngsters on the children’s ward at City Hospital were the first to view the tapes warning patients the importance of handwashing. Patients are shown how to wash their hands properly and urged to challenge staff they believe haven’t carried out the important act.

Dr Adam Fraise, trust director of infection control, said: "The trust takes MRSA very seriously and we are continually looking at ways of identifying infection risks to keep the bug very much under control."
