Poor changing facilities pose Perth MRSA risk

TERRIFIED nurses at the Royal Alexandra Hospital are too scared to use their changing rooms.

Worried staff are boycotting the locker facilities at the hospital, above, which are hidden away in the hospital ‘dungeons’ as many don’t feel safe venturing there alone.

Now there are fears the nurses could be bringing the MRSA superbug into the wards on their uniforms because they’re too frightened to change on site.

To avoid having to use the area, some staff are arriving for their shifts already wearing their work outfits – a move which nursing bosses claim could lead to the spread of hospital-acquired infections.

Yesterday, one worried nurse told the Paisley Daily Express: “Our changing facilities at the RAH are right down in the basement, known to us as the dungeon.

“Staff coming off their shift at night or early in the morning don’t like going down there on their own because the area is so isolated.
