in MRSA in English Hospitals

"He has been transferred to a care home and they now tell me that he has yet another urine infection and MRSA, which the hospital failed to tell the family about before moving him to the care home," Mrs Wafforn said.

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust again defended its position, saying that it "takes all infection control very seriously".

The spokesman said: "Tests taken during Mr Wafforn’s stay indicated the presence of MRSA bacteria, although it was not possible to say whether this was evidence of either MRSA colonisation or infection.

"Before clinical staff received the results, Mr Wafforn was subsequently discharged to a more appropriate care setting for his healthcare needs before further tests could be undertaken, and the staff involved in his future care were notified of the results by hospital staff."

He has been in isolation at the care home for three weeks since his arrival because of the MRSA scare.
