Frisco’s Griffin Middle School will be completely cleaned again tonight as school district officials try to stop a staph infection that’s been confirmed in two eighth graders.

The school sent home a letter with the more than 900 students outlining what steps are being taken and what parents should do.

Both eight graders who developed the staph infection are student-athletes. MRSA, as it’s called, is an illness that tends to target young people.

“Kids are at more risk because they spend more time in contact with other people, whether it’s playing on a playground, in classes, changing desks. But adults can get it from their kids also,” said Dr. Amy Latta, Bent Tree Family Physicians.
