Three recent cases of staph infection at a Baldwin County high school may be indicative of a national increase in such illnesses, health officials said.
A potentially dangerous type of staph infection that’s resistant to several types of antibiotics — once seen mostly in hospital patients — is now being spread in the community, said Dan McRae, director of infection control at Springhill Medical Center.
Earlier this week, Baldwin County Schools officials said that three Daphne High School football players were diagnosed with infections, but all were expected to be ready for Friday’s game.
