This is the point I have been making for several months; no matter onto whom the blame is deflected, ultimately it comes back to those with the power and the money in the NHS. That is the hospital administrators, ably aided and abetted by central government.
I have written to several MPs on this subject and to date have received two replies, both from Mr. Boris Johnson. Neither Mr. Blair nor Mr. Reid have yet replied and I am not holding my breath.
My mother died in Kingston Hospital on 27.12.04. after she was admitted having suffered a massive stroke she was put in a side room which included a toilet facility covered in human excrement. Later she was moved to a ward bed. During this time I saw doctors examine patients without changing gloves if wearing them at all. An elderly patient with dimentia urinated in a chair – this was not cleaned. Soap was left on ward basins which had been used to wash patients. Wash bowls were shared between patients without being sterilised. One morning when I visited early I saw a food trolley still there from the night before. The nursing staff went home in their uniforms – I could go on. Basic hygene is NOT in existence in our hospital and we wonder why the MRSA visus is winning? IT IS TIME TO WAGE WAR ON THE ADMINISTRATORS OF OUR HOSPITALS! They should not be allowed to take the lowest tender from cleaning company contractors. We are supposed to be a civilised society – personally I would prefer to be hospitalised in the third world than in any part of Britain.
