My sister had hip replacement two weeks ago. Now that had to be all undone and has been told she has MRSA infection. Avery serious infection. She has never been out of the hospital. She is 69 years old. She has also been given blood. We are very worried about her. Wondering if she will pull through this. She is in a small hospital. Can you give me information on this infection pleaseand why she got this.

Assume a person is colonized with MRSA. He suffers an insect bite (type of insect unknown) but the insect bite allows the bacteria to enter the skin. How long does it take for the MRSA infection to become apparent? Hours? Days?

I have finally gotten rid of my MRSA lesions. My infectious disease doctor prescribed Rifampin 600mg per day along with Septra DS twice a day. The MRSA is responding well & I am feeling much better.

I had MRSA post-op in 1981. Now I have an open wound that has cultured out MRSA again. Just looking for information. I have taken a multitude of antibiotics including Rocephin 1gm IM qd for 10 days & am presently on Cipro with no remarkable results.
